Freedom

DALL·E 2024-12-14 11.59.32 - A whimsical and fun illustration of a wacky, eccentric man joyfully building the internet. He is surrounded by colorful wires, glowing screens, and qu

There’s something genuinely liberating about building your own little corner of the internet. A place that’s yours to fill with ideas, stories, projects, or just fun experiments—and knowing that the only people who see it are the ones who want to. No algorithms shoving it in someone’s face, no pop-ups pestering them to subscribe. Just a quiet, personal space waiting to be discovered by anyone willing to take the time to look.

That’s what I love about my new site. It feels like creating an internet bunker—not in the doomsday prepper sense, but in a way that’s cozy, welcoming, and just for those who care to join. I’m not here to “go viral” or “blast” my content across the web. I’m here to build something genuine, a space that’s not trying to compete with flashy commercial services. It’s a little haven away from the noise of ads, notifications, and corporate oversight.

Another amazing part? I’m no longer bombarded with ads or feeding a huge chunk of my personal data to advertising companies. I’ve deliberately chosen not to include any tracking or analytics on my site. I don’t care about who visits or how they found it, and that’s incredibly freeing. There’s no target audience to chase, no demographics to analyze. It’s just my place, built on my terms, and that’s all it needs to be.

The best part? It’s self-sustaining. I’m happy to pay the bills, treating it like a couple of streaming services that bring me joy every month. But instead of passive entertainment, this is something I can actively create, shape, and share on my own terms. It’s an investment in connection and creativity, not just consumption.

There’s also a certain thrill in knowing that everything here is opt-in. People have to seek it out. They have to explore, poke around, and find what speaks to them. It’s like an open invitation for curiosity. There’s no pressure, no “engagement metrics” to hit. Just me, doing my thing, and anyone else who feels like joining in is more than welcome.

I’ve spent enough time on platforms where algorithms decide what gets seen and when. Where you’re constantly chasing likes, shares, and comments just to stay relevant in an endless scroll of content. This site is the opposite of that. It’s slower, quieter, and more intentional. And that’s exactly why I love it.

Maybe someday I’ll grow it. Maybe I’ll add features or increase the service. Who knows? But for now, I’m content to let it be what it is: a personal project, a labor of love, and a refuge for anyone tired of the commercialized web. This is my space to create, connect, and have fun. And if someone stumbles upon it and finds something they like, well, that’s just the cherry on top.
