Welcome back to Tracks of Terror, the daily blog that chronicles my white-knuckle journey from caboose to locomotive. Yesterday, you guessed which move I made to survive the Screaming Passenger. Today, we reveal what actually happened—and, for the curious (or morbid), how the other four choices would’ve spelled my doom.

I still face five possible actions in each new train car: Fight ⚔️, Sneak 👣, Improvise 🛠️, Persuade 🗣️, or Loot 🔍. Only one leads to survival—and I’ll only reveal that correct choice the following day. Keep track of your guesses; whoever scores the most correct predictions by the end wins a mystery prize (and lifetime bragging rights).

Day 2: “The Burning Car”

What Worked Yesterday (REVEAL)

From Day 1’s “The Screaming Passenger,” the only move that saved my bacon was:

Sneak 👣
By hugging the torn seats and inching past while the passenger was lost in their own banshee wailing, I managed to avoid drawing attention. Every jolt of the train threatened to send me stumbling into their clutches, but by keeping quiet and low to the ground, I made it to the exit door. My nerves were shot, but I survived to see another day—and another nightmare.

How the Other 4 Would Have Failed

1. Fight ⚔️
   The second I’d have rushed forward, the train would’ve lurched, causing me to lose my footing. The Screaming Passenger would snap free of the restraints in a moment of twisted adrenaline, and let’s just say… my throat wouldn’t stand a chance.
2. Improvise 🛠️
   Trying to fashion a barricade or distraction using broken luggage or stray metal? It would’ve backfired. One wrong move, the makeshift contraption collapses, and in a heartbeat, I’d be pinned beneath the screamer’s flailing limbs—game over.
3. Persuade 🗣️
   Trying to reason with that tortured soul? Bad idea. Once they realized I was near, their panic and thrashing would only intensify. Before I could utter more than a word, they’d lash out blindly, and the resulting struggle would draw any lurking zombies right to us both.
4. Loot 🔍
   Digging around for supplies in that minefield of broken seats and glass? I’d have made a racket, turned my back, and the screamer (or worse, unseen infected) would’ve pounced. Whatever gear I found wouldn’t save me in time.

THE SCENE: INTO THE FLAMES

Slamming the door behind me, I stagger into the next car, coughing as thick smoke floods my lungs. Flickers of orange dance on the walls—there’s fire here, no doubt. Flames lick at the edges of torn seats. Overhead lights gutter out, leaving only the glow of embers for illumination.

Some parts of the floor look ready to collapse. The heat is stifling, and every breath tastes like ash. Twisted metal beams block half the aisle, while a shattered fire extinguisher lies uselessly on the ground, emptied long ago. I can’t linger, but the path forward is a tangle of flames and debris. One misstep, and I’m barbecue.
