The House Always Wins: How ABC/DISNEY and All Corporations Exploit Desperate People

Daniel Conderman Posted on 4 months ago 2 min read
DALL·E 2025-02-08 18.56.07 - A sinister-looking corporate executive in a sleek suit hands over a beautifully wrapped gift box to an unsuspecting person. The box is labeled 'FREE'

I just found out how many lives ABC ruined with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and I can’t believe people still trust corporations. It’s not just a few bad apples—every major company is a predator, preying on the desperate and selling false hope. They don’t help people; they exploit them. They aren’t generous; they are calculating. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition wasn’t a show about giving—it was a show about setting people up to fail and using their suffering for ratings.

The ABC Scam: Giving People More Than They Could Afford, Then Leaving Them to Drown

ABC and Disney came in like heroes, gave struggling families massive, over-the-top homes, and then walked away. They knew these families couldn’t afford the property taxes, the maintenance, the skyrocketing utility bills. But that didn’t matter, because ABC got their feel-good TV moment and moved on. Families lost their homes, went bankrupt, and were left worse off than before—but ABC still cashed in on their suffering.

This wasn’t just a mistake. This was a deliberate scam. A marketing ploy designed to make Disney and ABC look good while using real people as disposable content. They never cared. They knew what would happen and didn’t care.

Corporations Are Not Your Friends

This isn’t just about one show—this is how every major corporation operates. Gambling companies do the same thing: they hook you with bright lights and fake promises, convincing you that this time will be different. It never is. They profit from your losses.

Tech companies give you “free” software, not because they care, but because they want your data. Retailers give you “free” perks, not because they’re generous, but because they want to manipulate your spending. Every time a company offers you something for “free,” you are the product, and they will squeeze every last cent from you.

The Myth of Corporate Kindness

Corporations pretend to care, but it’s always about money. Casinos fund problem gambling hotlines while designing slot machines to be as addictive as possible. ABC pretended to change lives while leaving families to crumble under financial ruin. Amazon treats workers like disposable parts while donating just enough to charity for good PR.

Every time you see a corporation “helping” someone, ask yourself: what are they getting out of it? The answer is always profit. They don’t help—they exploit.

The Only Way to Win: Opt Out

The best way to fight back? Don’t play their game. Don’t gamble, don’t take “free” gifts from corporations, don’t trust companies that pretend to care. If a corporation is offering you something, it’s because they are planning to take something bigger in return.

ABC, Disney, gambling companies, tech giants—they are all the same. They don’t care about you. They never have, and they never will.
