Now that my WordPress site is up and humming along, I can’t help but feel a wave of excitement. The tools I’ve been exploring, the possibilities for creativity—they’ve reminded me why I fell in love with the web in the first place. With a few AI threads helping me build things out, posting on WordPress has become a creative haven for me.
I’ll be honest: I skipped the last decade of WordPress evolution, and coming back now has been a revelation. The modern WordPress ecosystem—even just the vanilla setup—is mind-blowing. Templates, features, formatting, it’s all here, and it’s perfect. I don’t want plugins. I don’t want third-party analytics. I don’t want unnecessary access.
This site is simple, it’s personal, and it’s tracking-free. There are no third-party cookies here. No sneaky ads. Nothing to suggest that I’m interested in anything but creating a space for authentic interaction. The idea of tracking visitors feels outdated and irrelevant to me. Honestly, unless I’ve interacted with someone firsthand, I’ve got no confidence that a real person is visiting. To me, the so-called “internet traffic” today feels like a shadow of what it used to be.
Back in the day, Google rankings felt real—something that mattered. That was 20 years ago. Now? Google sold the ads, the search, the clicks. The magic of the open web got buried under layers of corporate algorithms. But here’s the good news: I’ve rediscovered the magic for myself.
From Web 1.0 to Web 3.0
I cut my teeth on Web 1.0. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript were my playground, and I loved making them do magic tricks and jump through hoops. Web 2.0 brought me into the professional fold. I got paid to build, to create, to refine. It was a golden era for me as a developer.
Now we’re in Web 3.0, where the web is more useful and accessible to everyone. The lines between app and web have blurred, and the tools available—especially WordPress and AI—have reignited my passion. I’m using Web 3.0 tools and AI 1.0 tech to have fun with my hobby, and it’s been an absolute blast.
