Hello, friends and family,
I wanted to take a moment to share some reflections and updates on the HiattCoin project. As many of you know, this started as a bold and exciting idea: leveraging blockchain technology to preserve our family’s legacy in a unique and meaningful way. Along the way, I’ve learned a lot about the crypto world—and some lessons have been eye-opening.
Lessons Learned
While researching and planning HiattCoin, I’ve dived deep into the world of cryptocurrencies and meme coins. What I’ve discovered is that the meme coin scene is not only chaotic but also full of pitfalls, hype, and unexpected complexities. It’s a space where some thrive, but many others stumble, and for a project centered on family and legacy, jumping into that storm without full understanding isn’t the right move.
Despite my confidence in technology, the crypto world made me feel like a 13-year-old gamer is outpacing me with one hand tied behind their back! That’s a humbling realization. So, while HiattCoin remains a project close to my heart, I’ve decided to pause on creating or advising anything crypto-related until I fully understand the risks, opportunities, and best practices.
A New Approach
This isn’t a step back—it’s a step forward with clarity and focus. For now, the mission remains the same: to preserve our family’s history, share our stories, and create something lasting and meaningful. However, instead of diving headfirst into the public crypto waters, we’ll explore more private, practical, and grounded alternatives.
- Hiatt Legacy as a Platform: Instead of emphasizing coins and tokens, the focus shifts toward creating a digital archive—a space where family photos, documents, and heirlooms can be organized and celebrated.
- If Crypto Happens: If we integrate blockchain, it will be private, thoughtful, and directly tied to something useful and tangible. No hype, no pump-and-dump, just a tool for preserving what matters.
What’s Next?
For those following along, here’s the updated roadmap:
- Simplify and Refocus:
- The core mission remains: preserving memories and stories.
- Blockchain is still on the table but only as a tool—not a centerpiece.
- Create Practical Solutions:
- Build a private system that stores and organizes family history.
- Explore user-friendly tools and platforms that don’t require anyone to dive into the crypto scene.
- Stay Transparent:
- I’ll continue to share what I learn along the way, whether that’s about blockchain, digital archives, or other tools.
My Takeaway
This experience has taught me that technology is powerful, but it’s also a tool that requires responsibility and understanding. Jumping on trends without full clarity isn’t the way to build something lasting—especially when it’s tied to family and legacy.
Thank you all for your support and patience as I navigate this journey. I’m excited to keep building, learning, and creating something truly valuable for us all.
