The Oversized Doors of the Ancient World: Evidence of Giants?

History is full of mysteries—stories that don’t quite fit the mainstream narrative. One of the most overlooked yet compelling pieces of evidence for an alternative past is the existence of massive, oversized doors found in ancient structures across the world. Why would ancient civilizations build doors so large that no ordinary human could comfortably use them?

Mainstream historians will say these structures were built for ceremonial purposes, grandiosity, or religious significance. But what if they were built for something else? What if they were built for someone else?

The Clues Hidden in Plain Sight

Throughout the ancient world, we find megalithic doors and gateways that seem impractically large for regular human use. Could this be evidence of giants—beings of incredible stature, as referenced in mythologies, religious texts, and even the Bible? Let’s examine some of the most striking examples:

1. The Gates of Ishtar (Babylon, Iraq)

  • Towering at over 40 feet high, these gates were built by Nebuchadnezzar II in the 6th century BCE.
  • The sheer scale raises the question: who were these gates really meant for? Did the ancient Babylonians remember a time when larger beings walked among them?

2. The Lion Gate (Mycenae, Greece)

  • Built around 1250 BCE, the entrance to Mycenae is flanked by massive stonework made of Cyclopean masonry—so large that the Greeks later claimed it was built by Cyclops, one-eyed giants from myth.
  • If regular humans built it, why does the entrance look proportionally correct for something far larger than a human?

3. The Gates of Persepolis (Iran)

  • The Gate of All Nations, built by Xerxes I (5th century BCE), stands over 30 feet tall.
  • Giant griffon and bull statues guard the entrance, symbolizing something beyond human scale.
  • Why build such a grand entrance if not to accommodate someone (or something) of immense size?

4. The Pantheon Doors (Rome, Italy)

  • Standing 24 feet high, the doors of the Pantheon in Rome are so large they would dwarf any ordinary visitor.
  • The Pantheon itself was a temple dedicated to all gods—including pre-Roman deities that may have been associated with giants.

5. The Temple of Karnak (Egypt)

  • Ancient Egyptian temples like Karnak have pylons (gates) reaching 100 feet tall.
  • Depictions of gigantic gods and pharaohs suggest a time when these beings may have been more than just symbolic representations.

6. The Basilica of St. John (Turkey)

  • Massive bronze doors similar to those found in other ancient religious sites.
  • Why did early Christian builders continue the trend of monumental entrances?

7. The Tomb of Agamemnon (Treasury of Atreus, Mycenae)

  • The doorway to this ancient Greek tomb has a massive lintel stone, weighing an estimated 120 tons.
  • If humans alone built this, why make the entrance so disproportionately large?

8. The Hagia Sophia’s Imperial Door (Istanbul, Turkey)

  • Said to be made from wood of Noah’s Ark, this Byzantine door is enormous, designed only for the emperor.
  • What if emperors of the past were larger than we assume?

Giants in Ancient Texts and the Erasure of History

References to giants are not limited to folklore. They appear in religious and historical texts from all over the world:

  • The Bible (Genesis 6:4) speaks of the Nephilim, giants that walked the Earth before the flood.
  • The Book of Enoch describes the Watchers, fallen angels who fathered giant offspring.
  • Norse mythology describes the Jotunn, an ancient race of giants.
  • Greek mythology is filled with tales of the Titans and Cyclops.
  • Native American legends describe red-haired giants who once roamed the land.

If giants were merely myths, why do so many disparate cultures describe them? And more importantly, why do so many physical structures seem to support their existence?

The Dark Ages: A Systematic Erasure of the Truth?

During the Dark Ages, the Catholic Church rose to power and became the gatekeeper of historical knowledge. They controlled which texts were preserved and which were destroyed. Could it be that records of giants were deliberately erased because they didn’t fit the Church’s preferred version of history?

Consider how biblical references to the Nephilim were minimized or omitted over time. Consider how ancient artifacts and skeletons allegedly showing massive humanoid bones have mysteriously disappeared from museums and collections.

If giants were once part of human history, could their memory have been erased on purpose?

Conclusion: The Doors Speak for Themselves

We are left with a choice: accept the mainstream narrative, or consider the possibility that ancient history is not as simple as we have been taught. The oversized doors of the ancient world are silent witnesses to something far grander, something that may have been systematically erased from recorded history.

The evidence is in the stonework. The legends persist across cultures. The pieces are there. We just have to be willing to see the rest of the story.
